Ferry to Bowness Bay Distance .75 miles Time 15 minutes This simple path links the steamer pier at Bowness with the ferry a short distance south. Leave the steamer pier heading south and follow the road around by the lake. Once past the boat showrooms, a path leads off left to Cockshot point. This follows the shoreline. Where it joins another path coming in from Bowness, turn right, cross the car park and turn right again for the ferry.
The ferry runs roughly every twenty minutes in summer but winter service is less frequent. In severe weather it may well be cancelled. If the ferry has ceased for the day and you find yourself stranded there is an emergency number 0860 813427. Check before setting out.
